New Player UI on Its Way

We've had some great feedback and feature requests around working with sheet music. We've been hard at work re-designing the player experience to better meet your needs.

A New Persistent Player

We're getting very close to launching our new design for the player. Right now, the player opens up in a modal over the page. This has been working well, but when we added the sheet music feature, it presented some challenges. Sheet music was a late feature we added and as a result, it was kind of shoe-horned into the experience. The most popular request was being able to access the player transport controls while viewing the song's sheet music.

After a fair bit of evaluation, we've chosen to make the player function very much like music streaming services such as Spotify, YouTube Music and Tidal. Instead of the player being in a modal, it will live in a persistent "mini-bar" at the bottom of the screen. Here's what it'll look like:

Mini-bar

When you select a song, it will load into the mini-bar. The standard controls are there for play/pause, skip forward/back in the playlist and repeat. We're also adding a master volume control. More importantly, there are 4 icons at the right that allow you to open the mixer, the sheet music, and lyrics, and view the current playlist you're listening to. So now you can easily view the content you need when your tracks are playing.

The other advantage of this mini-bar player is that your tracks will keep playing while you browse other parts of the app - while listening to your song, you can browse any other page in the app uninterrupted! As users of Track Tutor ourselves, we're pretty exited about this feature as we know it will make viewing sheet music and the player much easier.

We're currently testing the updated player mini-bar. We hope to have this live for in the next few days. As always, we'll keep you updated!
